Jay Peak week 1

Week one at jay peak was pretty interesting. The first day we meet with Tom M and talked about what we would be doing for the following four weekends there. We also got a tour of the resort and then were sent on our way to snowboard. The saturday after, I began working in lift ops. I worked the RFID system all day and organized lift lines. It was interesting to see how RFID systems worked. There definitely so much faster then scanning tickets by hand. The hand held device showed things from season pass holders, to expired tickets. I was also able to connect with many of the guest. One way in which lift ops practices sustainability is that by using the RFID system. The cards that are used are reloadable and save on tickets. The ski resort also recycles old ski ticket passes. One way in which lift ops at jay practices safety is by the use of RFID systems as well. If someone is hurt or lost on the mountain the RFID tickets make it easy to track the person. The tickets are almost like gps's. One way in which lift ops practices service is by offering the customer shorter lift line because face it how really wants to wait in a lift line for any longer then 2 minutes. One way in which lift ops benefits the employee if by offer them a job. A second benefit for the employee is that they are able to enjoy the outdoors and meet many guests. One way in which lift ops benefits the customer is by giving them transport to the top or parts of the mountain. Like I said before the RFID's at some of the lifts also lower the lift lines. One way in which lift ops at jay benefits the owner is by brinnging in money to the resorts. When customers buy tickets or reload then RFId cards they are paying money, therefore the owner and the resort is making money. Plus by selling tickets the owner has the potential to attract more people to the resort and is sort of a marketing aspect.
